Integrity

My faith directs everything I do in my life, in particular how I have represented my clients during my legal career. I have always conducted myself to the highest legal standards. I am proud that in over 26 years of practice, I have never had any complaints made against me with the State bar. I believe cases should be won based on the application of the law to the facts, not by playing games or “hiding the ball.” I recognize the high bar that being a practicing attorney requires and have consistently followed the ethical rules in every case I have ever had.

Civility

I always start every case offering reasonable courtesies to my opposing counsel and continue throughout the case as long as the courtesy is reciprocated. I believe you can zealously represent your client without making your opposing counsel and party your enemy. Being open to reasonable requests from the other side often can save your client money and not waste judicial resources.

When I first moved to Idaho, I was told that the Idaho Bar, and Boise legal community was close knit. That was a welcome relief from my previous experience. Large firm lawyers often took the tact that being difficult was somehow better to represent their clients, even on trivial issues. And while I agree that the level of civility is considerably better here in Idaho, there are still times when opposing counsel chooses the difficult and wasteful path in litigation.

If elected, I will treat everyone who comes before me with civility and I will demand it between counsel.

Fairness and Equal Application of the Law

For years as an attorney in California, I personally witnessed over worked, inefficient, and at times unfair outcomes in cases. As a foster parent, I experienced the frustrations of the family court system. If elected I will always strive to ensure that the laws are applied fairly and equally regardless for every party that comes before me.

Paid for and approved by the Committee to Elect Greg Woodard for Idaho Judge.
